Short version: we never sell your data. We keep only what we need to run bookings and obey the law — then we delete it.
Your trust matters more than any dollar we could make from your data. We will never sell your personal information — not to advertisers, not to data brokers, not to anyone. There is not enough money in the world to buy that from us. We built A Hockey Life to open ice, not to monetize your inbox.
We do not use your information for advertising networks or “partner marketing” lists. If that ever changed (it will not under this policy), we would ask you first in plain English — and you could say no.
When you book: your name, email address, phone number (optional), and the details of your booking (session, spots, payment status). When a session involves a minor participant: the guardian/adult booker provides the participant info the rink needs for safety (for example participant name and date of birth when collected) — that booking is still made by an adult.
When you sign in: your email address.
We do not see or store your full card number. Payments are handled by Stripe. We may store limited payment metadata Stripe returns (for example that a payment succeeded, an amount, and a Stripe reference id) so we can refund, reconcile, and answer “where’s my money?” questions.
Only to run the service you asked for: process bookings and payments, send confirmations and receipts, let you view and cancel bookings, send waitlist / “notify me” alerts you opted into, respond to support, and keep the service secure (fraud, abuse, chargebacks).
We do not sell your personal information. We do not rent it. We do not share it for someone else’s marketing.
A few companies process data only so we can operate: Supabase (database and sign-in), Stripe (payments), Resend (email delivery), and our hosting provider. They are service providers — not customers buying a list.
The rink you book receives the roster info needed to run that session (typically name, spots booked, and any safety fields we collect for that booking). That is so you can get on the ice — not so the rink can resell your data through us.
We may disclose information if required by law, a valid legal process, or to protect people from serious harm. That is not a sale.
We do not keep a permanent “forever file” on you for fun. We keep booking and account records only as long as we reasonably need them for the service, taxes, accounting, chargebacks, refunds, and other legal obligations — then we delete or irreversibly de-identify them.
When that retention window ends, your personal information is removed from our systems for good (subject to ordinary backup cycles that also age out). We are not building a long-term dossier.
Exact timelines (for example how many years tax or payment records must be kept) follow what the law and our accountant require. Then we delete.
You can email ross@ahockeylife.com to request a copy of what we have, or to ask for deletion. We will respond within 30 days. If law still requires us to keep a record (for example a paid invoice for tax), we will say so plainly and delete everything we can.
A Hockey Life is for adults to book ice. The person who creates the booking and accepts the Terms must be 18 or older. Parents and guardians book for youth players — we are not trying to run an account system aimed at kids.
Federal children’s privacy law (COPPA) uses under 13 as its bright line. In plain terms: we do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. Youth under 18 skate when an adult books and provides what’s needed — we are not mining kids’ data.
If you believe we have information collected directly from a child under 13, email ross@ahockeylife.com and we will delete it promptly.
We use reputable providers and industry-standard protections appropriate for a small booking service. No system is perfect — if we learn of a breach that affects you, we will act quickly and notify you as required by law.
